Over the last few years, I have had the absolute honour of creating the First Dance for many wonderful, unique and loving couples, who wanted to have a moment on the dance floor that they would remember forever. A moment on the dance floor that didn't involve being stressed out, which wedding planning can so often cause. A moment on the dance floor to impress each other, and to start their marriage with what will become a cherished memory.
I have never taken that responsibility lightly. It is something that I'm grateful to be known for, and will continue to work on improving.
When I first decided to step out of other company's visions, and start working toward bringing my own brand of joy to Calgary, one of the things I said was "Who knows? Maybe one day, I'll even end up in Avenue Magazine!"
The people I saw featured always seemed to be making the people around them so happy, and so inspired. I wanted to be a part of that.
That was in 2017.
Flash forward to 2025, and this is now in the January edition of Avenue Magazine - Calgary:
"Christifer Duxbury Dance Collective offers dynamic and inclusive dance lessons, classes and events in Calgary. It has classes for various skill levels and genres including ballroom, Latin, swing, country, jazz and more. Along with wedding dance lessons to help clients prepare for their big day, the company also offers private dance lessons, group dance classes, and fun monthly social dances and bi-annual performances."
To everyone who voted for me, trained with me, taught me, and in any way supported me: Thank you.
This is a milestone that I am truly, and sincerely grateful to have reached.
